Epic Games Store hosts the new Solana game Star Atlas. A playable demo is available for NFT owners to sample.
Star Atlas Launched on Epic Games Store
The highly anticipated Solana NFT-based game Star Atlas finally launched on the Epic Games Store on 29 September 2022, with a live-streamed event. Although only currently available as a demo, Star Atlas enabled NFT owners to sample the ships they bought.
Part of the demo was a non-NFT ship that owners could explore, but the demo was generous enough also to grant access keys to select non-owners. This NFT project is set in the year 2620 and enables players to explore an open-world space with vehicles such as spaceships while mining resources.
Although NFT owners got a taste of this exploration strategy game, the Star Atlas developers may need a few years to complete the entire project and enable players to enjoy the full features.
Star Atlas Showroom Demo
Even though it might be a while until Star Atlas is fully up and running, NFT owners will soon get another glimpse into the game. Another Showroom demo will take place later this year and will include other features such as NFT holders flying their ships, multiplayer capabilities and interaction with other players.
But the demo wasn’t the only highlight of the event. The launch of the Star Atlas demo on Epic Games Store was accompanied by a release of developer toolkits. These tools will assist developers to build their own Unreal Engine 5-based crypto games on Solana’s network.
The 3D creation tool is also used in Star Atlas’ flagship game, Fortnite. To easily integrate their games onto Solana’s network, developers will use the open-source tool The Foundation Software Development Kit (F-KIT).
Not only is Solana upgrading its network to process more than 60,000 transactions per second, but it’s a dominant player in the NFT space.
